01 325xi barely stays runningrocktire 04-19-2006, 08:45 PM Engine light has been flashing on and off for awhile, and it's been running a little rough, but nothing I couldn't handle...today, the oil was changed, and now it will barely run at all...along with that, the engine light stays on. Got two codes out, p0211, which is throttle pedal position sensor circuit, and p1633., which is throttle valve adaptive-homo position unknown..,..is anything that could have been done during the oil change to cause this, or is it a fluke, and the TPS is bad...or is it something else altogether...I can't get any more info on this, and I can't even find the part at any BMW parts sites...any help would be appreciated. maina101 07-04-2006, 02:29 PM Go to BAVAUTO.COM and they have a number you can call a specialist or write them an email and they will walk you through. Sounds to me like a catalytic converter problem. Best of luck! Antiburn 07-04-2006, 04:10 PM If its your TPS then you might be in need of a new gas pedal assembly since that in istes has its own sensor of where the pedal is. I would clear the fault, continue driving if possible and if the engine light comes back on then you know for sure its your tps. I would also check your ignition coils, they can cause a check engine light and a misfire condition. Once you have a coil pulled out, if its all black then they need to be updated with the new coil. Any bmw parts guy knows what your talking about since they get the same problem 4 times a week. BAVARIANM 07-05-2006, 01:42 PM This is a classic symptom of a faulty throttle assy, It's not uncommon. Some require a replacement harness. It is pretty pricey 87esir 07-05-2006, 02:17 PM sounds like the tps. You might check and make sure your connections are good. My tps is right above the oil filter, if yours is the same maybe just maybe they unplugged it or something during the oil change. good luck BAVARIANM 07-07-2006, 03:40 PM C'mon people. The throttle assy contains the TPS. There are actually three signals that are cross-checked. All circuitry on this motor are contained inside the throttle housing. Quit giving people bogus information. There are multiple service bulletins on this problem, and the associated codes. The converter.......hahahahaha Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
