quick question

ok im gonna go race soon so this will be my last what is my hp or wut is my time question. What is this thing about track elevation and y does it play such a big role. What would a stock LS1 run on a track say 1200ft as opposed to one with 2100ft??? just curious

Re: quick question

The higher up the thinner the air gets. Lowering compression and effectively slowing the car down.

I race at 5800 feet and a REALLY good driver with a stock LS1 car doesn't see anything better than 14.50. Over a second loss here.

http://www.nhra.com/tech_specs/altitude.html
That is a correction chart for different altitudes.

Re: quick question

I can understand him asking about altitude.
It confuses a bunch of people. Not many people understand (unless you race here) just what 5800 feet does to a car.

My 14.0 at 105 comes out to a 13.1 at 113 using just the altitude conversion.

Then there is Density Altitude. This is how bad the air is period. Most of the time here it is 8000+ because of the heat.

All sorts of different things affect ET's. They don't get corrected like dyno numbers do.
What altitude are you racing at FastWS6?? What track??

Thanks for the reminder BTW...I need to order a helmet before May 10th.

Re: quick question

Put it back on.
You need a 15mm rachet to loosen the tensioner.

Mine did this as well. Just keep an eye on it.
