okokok... NOW... Headers???
I have 1.75" primaries with 3" main on the headers currently on RD. Dynomax makes a set of cermacoats that fit a 2 gen with a big block same size tubes, etc for $300.
HOOKER has a set that is 2" primaries with 3.5" mains (maybe it was 3.25" ... forget) cermaic coated for $350.
Question:
What difference if any would it make if I put the Hookers on rather than the Dynomax's? Current exhaust is 3" flowmasters (that some prick mechanic put 2.5" pipes coming out of the mufflers instead of 3"... putting turndowns back on soon).
If I put the 2" / 3.5" on, would I have to get a bigger exhaust? I would think 3" pipes off a 3.5" header wouldn't work well. You're supposed to go bigger (if not the same size) not smaller right???
Isn't that the whole scavenging effect - the wider the pipe the farther down the system, the more the gas can expand and sort of pull itself out of the exhaust??? Don't NASCAR exhausts start at 2" and go to 3" and end at 4" or so???

Re: okokok... NOW... Headers???
well, it's always fun to say "I've got a set of hookers"
Again, what are the cam specs for lift and duration? For mild street/strip, I wouldn't push too large. But yes you have the right idea, start with what you need to get out, and then kind of "megaphone" back.

Re: okokok... NOW... Headers???
With a dial indicater you can determine the cams lift and duration. Also to test for and flat spots in the cam
Suppose you didn't think of t-gauges, micrometers and dial calipers iether I thought you said this guy knew waht he was doing

Re: okokok... NOW... Headers???
Oh, and you could also use the dial indicater to determine how far your supository has traveled and cleansed too
Sorry, I am in rare form today.

Re: okokok... NOW... Headers???
You jackass... We haven't even done anything yet... not even decide what it is (exactly) we're doing or when.
Might just pull the heads off and send them out, and when they come back pull the rest of the motor and put the headers on, etc. I honestly don't know what's going on yet, my brain's still numb from tax season.

Re: okokok... NOW... Headers???
wow.. i think wright is high
DIAL INDICATER:
A plunger moves in and out from the body of the indicator and rotates the measuring needle on a dial face. Dial indicators usually have either a 1" or 2" range and are calibrated in increments of .001". A smaller dial reads each revolution of the larger dial in increments of 0.100".
