Exclamation 1992 LT-1 gas leak

My LT-1 has developed an intermitent gas leak with the engine running. 166K miles, rebuilt 11K ago. If I drive it every day there are no problems. But if it sits for 3 days or more without being driven, I have quite a stream of gas running off the flywheel cover, towards the right side. My mechanic has checked it and can find nothing wrong. The premium fuel leaves no drip residue from whatever the source is, so there isn't even a trail to follow. The day following a leaky day, everything is fine again. Anyone have a similar experience out there, or any suggestions?

my 92 had the same problem. As soon as you turn the vehical off the pressure in the fuel system leaks by the injector seals (o-rings). I had the o-rings replaced for a little over 100 dollars. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the help... I've had it in 4 times to three different shops (including the local Chevy dealer twice). It's been really frustrating, but I found the leak myself since it's getting worse. It was an "O"-ring on the fuel line crossover running between the fuel rails. The problem is slowly coming back though, so I'm taking it to a mechanic rather than an Auto-Tech. It seems the Auto-Techs just tap into the onboard computer and can only fix what the computer says is wrong. This problem hasn't thrown a bad code into the computer yet! So, I'll tell my mechanic what you found with your 92.
THANK YOU for the insight.

My mechanic found the "O" rings to be OK. The hard starting (which acted like no fuel getting up to the injectors) was actually no spark getting to the plugs. A hairline crack in the coil was allowing moisture to ground the coil. Coil replaced, and it's running great. ;-) A dual problem with two simple fixes. Don't forget to look for the obvious!
