98 Rodeo LS V6 Automatic with Brakes Grinding

Hey All,
I have a 98 Rodeo LS V6 Automatic that I bought a few months ago. I really like the truck, however, the brakes have been grinding for a while now. Before reading the message board I got the brakes looked at, the brake pads changed and that didn't help. After reading the message board I found my problem was similar to another poster and had my shocks changed. This woked for a couple of weeks and then the ABS light began to light up again and I would get the grinding sound on my braking. I'd like to point out that I'm in Hawaii and with the recent drenching the roads have become battlefields with potholes everywhere. The ABS light tends to turn on after I run through potholes and the grinding sound also tends to occur when braking through the potholes. I'm really at a loss here and have no idea what to do. I'm checking on whether the vehicle had the replacement ABS switch that was recalled. I'd appreciate any help/suggestions for other items to check/change.
Thanks,
Kyle

Re: 98 Rodeo LS V6 Automatic with Brakes Grinding

That happened to me last weekend (minus the ABS light). Turned out a rock had found its way inside the rear brake drum. Would come and go depending on the bumps and sounded terrible. I have rear disc brakes but the rotors also have a brake drum built into them for the parking brakes and that was where the rock was. Also mine is a '01 so don't know if yours is the same or not. Good luck,
Jeff.
