Bit of an update...
For those of you who are familair with my car project, here's a small update with pix.
First off, the engine, a '77 350 2-bolt main bored .030 over and machined for performance and durability, is assembled mostly and is in the car along with the rebuilt and kitted 700r4. This past saturday I had to pull the heads and run a thread chaser thru the spark plug holes because I put the wrong plugs in. Turns out plugs with a tapered seat will mushroom the threads of aluminum heads, so don't make the same mistake I did. The other dilemma was the fact that my intake manifold is for the newer head bolt pattern where the center 2 are angled differently, and my heads are the older style where they're all angled the same. So, my father, who's a machinist by trade made a set of angled washers that will guide the bolts in at a different angle and so the can also seat fully. This past week I had a bit of a shopping spree at summit and got the rest of the parts I need. Startup day should be coming very soon.
here's the eye candy.
chrome dipstick
cap, rotor, coil, dist. gear
1.6 roller rockers w/ rods
Air cleaner w/ matching valve covers
Holley 670cfm TBI

Re: Bit of an update...
looks good. i hope you're not talking about vortec bolt style compared to the standard bolt style. even if you get the bolts to angle correctly the ports don't exaclty match up. or is there a new standard style that i don't know about?
also, what heads do you have?
what else did you buy on your shopping spree?
also, is this going in your camaro?

Re: Bit of an update...
No, not the vortec pattern, I mean the difference between 86 and down heads compared to 87+. The heads are Brodix IK200's, aluminum with 200cc intake runners. The pictured items are all I got last week, now I just need to put it all on the engine, and yes, this is for the camaro.

Re: Bit of an update...
I'm really digging that carburetor(how many cfm) and those rockers
I used to have accel parts on my camaro, they had to be replaced and I just used duralast, what are the advantages with accel?

Re: Bit of an update...
it's a TBI (throttle body injection), not a carb, it's 670cfm. the 305 RS came with TBI from the factory, a rochester unit that i think only flowed 3-400cfm.
I don't know what advantage accel has other than I wanted all my ignition parts to be the same brand and they were the only ones I could find every component in.

Re: Bit of an update...
eeuuhhhhh, eheh, I meant the air cleaner...and I don't know what it is or where it goes, *thinks* OHHHHHH so that air cleaner goes on top of the tbi? but it's not a carburetor system, which also have air cleaners, am I right?

Re: Bit of an update...
you are correct, visually TBI and Carb are similar.

Very sweet Geno and take your time. Summer isn't even here yet. Better to get her right the first time than having to rip into her and scratch up the beautiful accessorys you got.
