Question looking at getting my lil a bro an outback wagon

my brother is getting his liscense in about a month or two and ima get him a car...and i was thinking about getting him somewhere between a 97' and 00'. i dont know much about these cars.. but whats some of the pros and cons. and how is the aftermarket for these if any...thankx guys

Are you looking at the Legacy based Outback or the Impreza based Outback Sport?
