Question 1984 CUCV tailgate

Hi all, I have problem with my tailgate. I have a 1984 CUCV (military spec) or Commercial Utility Cargo Vehicle , anyway- A few days ago I was turning the key in the tailgate when I heard something fall inside & then when I pulled the key out the lock cylinder came out with it.

The crank wont roll the window up or down, and on top of that I have crap in it that will only come out the way it went in, thru the tail gate.

Is there any way to get the crank off from the outside to get the window to roll down?

Re: 1984 CUCV tailgate

I really don't think that anyone on the Blazer forum would know the answer to that question. Sorry.

Is there any way that you can take the inside door panel off, and see what's up?
If you can it'll probably be pretty easy to get the lock cylinder pulled and replaced or fixxed

Good Luck with it

Re: 1984 CUCV tailgate

I don't know if you can get at the tailgate from the inside with stuff in the way, but there is an access panel inside the tailgate which you can open by taking out the screws. with the access plate off, you should be able to get at the lock mechanism. Once there, you should be able to lower the window enough to clear the cap and open the tailgate.

good luck.

Please check the dates on threads before you post in them. This one has been dead for almost 2 years. Thanks
