94 Lumina APV 3.1. I want to bleed the air from the cooling system but there are no bleed screws to be found anywhere. Does anyone know of a procedure for bleeding these things?? Please?

There are no bleeder screws on your van. The APV 3.1 is different than the car 3.1. It is throttle body injected and has a different intake manifold that doesn't trap air like the cars do. Only the APV's with the 3800 will have a bleeder screw, and it's located on the T-stat housing.

We're talking on two threads! My fault! I'm pretty sure there is air in the system, and I've heard of it happening before with this van. But I have not heard of a good fix. Ie . one that works. Any ideas? Thanks!

1 fill cooling system and leave radiator cap off
2 turn A/C heater control to any A/C mode and set temp to highest setting
3 start engin allow to idle untill bottom radiator hose is hot
4 cycle engin speed up to 3000 rpm and back to idle 5 times. This should expel any traped air

Thanks stv840! I'll give it a go! Does it make any difference that my A/C is on the blink, too? ie. compressor does not engage! Oh well!

I wonder if that would work for the cars too... I've blead the living crap out of my system, and there is still air in it

the main thing is making sure thermostat opens thenn rest of air will come out just make sure you leave cap off you will know when its run long enough coolant will flow out the top works on cars as well comptec

Yeah, I did that when I flushed the system and put new coolant in it. I than did the normal procedure with the screws and I still have air in the system. I know this becuase my temp gauge always reads close to overheating but teh car is actually running at a normal temp. It's a pain in the ass.

the procedure I found just says

1) open vent valves on thermostat housing and throttle body return pipe above water pump turn both screws two to three turns
2) fill cooling system to base of radiator neck
3) close both vent vaves Do not over tighten vent valves
4) install radiator cap
5) Add ccoolant to recovery tank
6) Start engin observe low coolant lamp
7) if lamp still on repeat bleed

you may try closing the lowest valve first
if that dosn't work repeat and close other valve first
