Question about 2.5 RS

How much faster is the 1999+ Subaru Impreza 2.5rs then a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt? Is the handling as good as the WRX, and Is it pretty powerful?
Thanks

Re: Question about 2.5 RS

Handling on the '98 through 2001 RS is pretty close to the WRX, if you buy a coupe, the sedan is a little less stiff, but not significantly.

Faster than which model Cobalt?

Re: Question about 2.5 RS

Stock, the 99-01 2.5RS does not handle quite as well as the WRX, but if you put a decent set of tires on it, it will handle better. The differential setup is not quite as good, but it is also significantly lighter.

I've never driven a Cobalt, but the 2.5RS should be about 1/2 way between the base Cobalt and Cobalt SS in terms of power and top speed.

faster is a matter of perspective..

the '01 2.5RS put down ~165hp (~120whp)
the '05 Cobalt puts down 145hp (~120whp)

They are pretty evenly matched.. The 2.5 will get the jump.. but not by much...
The 2.5 runs 0-60 in ~7.5s, the Cobalt is ~9s..

The Cobalt SS will walk a 2.5RS all week.. but that's apples to oranges..
