Stupid Question

Two questions:

1) My 00' GT, 53k will once every blue moon right at startup act like its misfiring for a few seconds and then idle funny until I start driving. Then it runs just fine.

I just had the plugs and wires replaced (not Bosch), so I don't think its related to that. Could it be the IAC valve, MAF related? Fuel pressure?

It happens like once a month if that, so I am not too worried.

2) I just put new tires on the car with a higher speed rating - T vs. the S Goodyears that were on there originally. I'm keeping it to the pressure as stated on the trunk (30psi). Is that the proper pressure?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Stupid Question

Regarding your misfire, check the area where the wires connect to the coils and add a little dielectric grease, you may be getting some moisture in the boots and until it burns out is causing the misfire. Second, add some fuel injector cleaner, possibly a dirty injector. Finally, clean the mass airflow sensor. It can sometimes cause a misfire especially on start-up. Us electronics cleaner and don't touch the wires.

Re: Stupid Question

What brand of spark plugs and wires were installed?

Also, it is always a good idea to get fuel system pressure tested to make sure it in in spec. at 48 - 55 psi.

thats just you're car having it's period. I hear if this doesnt happen 9 months later a piston shoots out your tailpipe. haha

tires should be good at that psi.. i have crappy tires but i usually run 32 all around

is it throwing any codes when you say it misfires? otherwise just do what the Dad said.

Re: Stupid Question

Also you might want to check that all spark plugs have the right gap...my car had the same symptoms and it was because a plug was off by.012...
