Take off the distributor cap and blow it out with compressed air, in the distributer too. Pull off the plug wires at both ends (one wire at a time) and blow the wire ends too. Spay a shot of WD-40 in the distributor and cap and wire ends for good measure. When you wash your engine, don't use a pressure washer unless you know what you're doing. And personally, I prefer not to leave the vehicle running (as you may have been told) unless you don't mind cracking the block. Cold water and hot engines don't mix.
