Question Need major help.......

Bnaylor3400 helped me a lot on the other thread which is here:

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=548853

Now I did what he told me and checked the vaccum on the solenoid and it has vaccum on one of the hoses but not on the other one. Now the one I am talking about is the one that goes out of the solenoid and runs over the (what i am guessing is the manifold) and into another kind of plug. the hose plugs in on the left part of the plug and on the other side of the plug is where the problem is......The hose that runs out of that side is much bigger I would have to say about 1/8 to 1/2 and inch in diameter....and it runs to the right of the engine and then it goes down right before the brake fluid container....it then plugs into a silver looking valve...which looks like the fuel line.....but at autozone the guy said it might be the valve for the emmission...or intake or something like that. ANyway does anyone know where that leads to?? Or what it could be.

Autozone does not carry the solenoid valve.....only the dealer....I can imagine how much those fools want for it!! I explained the best I could...sorry if it don't make sense....but any help would be great.

Check out the other thread so you all can see the picture. later.

That line goes to the evaporative charcoal cannister and the vent solenoid. It runs parallel to the fuel lines. Just follow it back and look at the rear area of the fuel tank (driver's side underneath ) by the fuel filler neck area.

That line can be monitored with a vacuum gauge. At some point or another, hard to say when, the solenoid will be commanded to open and then there should be vacuum on that line in question. If none then the purge solenoid would be suspect.

Re: Need major help.......

The part is called an evaporative emissions canister purge solenoid, and controls the canister back by the left rear tire. The other line is connected to this canister and should not have vacuum. AC-Delco part number 214-567 (GM# 1997210). I could sell it to you for $13.87 + s/h, but dealer retail is only $27.76. By the time you tack on $8-$10 for UPS, you're not saving much.

Not really. Its not a fatal error that causes any real driveability problems that I know of. Strictly emissions control related. Just an annoying SES light. Evaporative emissions faults get critical when you are due for emissions inspection because the car will probably fail.

It doesn't even cause a fuel injection system lean or rich trim or cause the PCM to go crazy. So you could defer repair. Good luck!
