2000 Taurus Shifting issuesOriginalBattosai 04-09-2006, 10:50 PM Its been going on for a while, where when i put it into drive it wont engage. I rev the engine but still nothin, then a few seconds later it will engage. There no burning or grinding sounds at all. I've had the fluid flushed and changed. It happens on occation not every time. Any ideas? The VIN says its an SES but the dealer says its an SE if that matters. Phill Millermagic 04-10-2006, 09:30 PM Other than that, does it shift fine? It might get the position sensor thingy for the gear select. OriginalBattosai 04-12-2006, 02:47 AM ya it shifts just fine, no burning no grinding nothing. Thats what makes me think its electrical. Phill Millermagic 04-12-2006, 06:29 AM Is it floor shift or column shift? You might want to check where the shifter connects to the top of the transmission to see if everything is there and tight.
