A read a lot of posts before and i dont know about pressure control solenoid, because it was 00-02 delphi, 03-05 bousch. And plus aamco sayid no codes. Is somebody have this f^%&ckinf shifting because of motor mount (bottom). I dont know what is wrong with the car. Everithing seems to be working fine. But this upshift driving me crazy.

Re: Tranny Please Help

Can you better describe the hard shifting. Is it more prevalent in the 1 - 2 upshift or all upshifts? Downshifts? Although AAMCO scanned it and found no codes it doesn't mean the PCS solenoid is not the cause. The symptoms sounds like a PCS solenoid to me. GM supposedly improved the PCS in 2003 models with the 4T65E tranny.

Re: Tranny Please Help

You need to have someone look at the shift times with a scanner. The higher the error the higher the computer will try and set the line pressure to adapt to the shift error to bring and down to zero (which will never happen by the way) anything over .065 of a second with trip the 1811 code but the SES will not come on. So if the shift times are low chances are good the PCS is fine. What did you use Bob, some lubeguard maybe he should try that.

Good man Troy. About time you weighed in.

Sounds like if he tried some Sea Foam or Lubegard tranny additive it might help. I salvaged one 4T65E tranny that way. He's got nothing to lose.

Re: Tranny Please Help

The shift is harder on 1-2 then 0n 2-3 not so hard. What it could be? Can it be because mounts. I mean somebody had mount changed after 3 years? Alldata saying pcs canged on late2002s cars. I tell you another thing. This shift is not like come from novere, its like thing going step by step. Cause before i didnt feel 2-3 shift. Its like going every week bad bad. I am afraid about tranny , still have to pay 5000 for the car. And another thing, which tranny shop you recomend me to go, but only on satturday, that one who can do in one day and they can find the problem on 1000%, iam in new york, brooklyn.

THANKYOU so much guys.

Yeah your problem is a real bummer considering GM allegedly corrected the PCS and harsh shifting problems on your model. As to what tranny shop to recommend in your area I really don't know. Is the hard shifting always present or intermittent. Are you getting any whining type sound?

With the mileage on your car have you ever done a pan drop and just changed out the ATF and screen filter? You might be able to minimize the shifting problem by adding a full 16 ounces of Sea Foam tranny additive before replacing the ATF. Its available at NAPA and Autozone. Run it through the tranny for a few hundred miles. See if that helps any. If so then do the pan drop service. I would not recommend a flush with your mileage.

If that doesn't work then it sounds like you need to get it to a good but reliable/reasonable tranny shop. I imagine the cost will be higher living in New York. Good luck!

Re: Tranny Please Help

So you dont think its a mount, right. More likely you saying i have to rebuild. Cause oil and filter i change on January. If you not pushing gas pedal so hard you almost dont feel the shifting, but if you trying to pass someone you have to press harder then it feels.

I really don't believe its an engine or tranny mount. Since you performed basic transmission service try some Lubegard additive. It comes in 8 ounces. I recall AAMCO carries it for around $10 or less. It is in a blue bottle marked Automatic Transmission Fluid Protectant with LXE. Part number 44601. A lot of people that have used it report the shifting improves or it minimizes the hard shifting where you can at least baby it before getting it into a shop. Last person I worked with that needed a rebuild in New York took his car over to New Jersey. Still cost around $2K for the rebuild. Good luck!

Re: Tranny Please Help

I would not condemn it yet, get it scanned again make sure they look at the shift time (error) just remember low error time the PCS is more than likely fine. If you want to have the shop pull the pan and see what’s in there for garbage that can tell you a lot about the health or your transmission. The PCS was not updated until the 2003 model year. I believe it was a mid-production change so in 03 it could be either PCS Right now my car sits a .036/.36 of a second (I cant remember which way it shows up on the scanner its been a while sense I checked one out).
