'92 Lumina blowing ECM fuses

My '92 Euro has blown two ECM fuses in about a month or so. It seems like when I turn the car off and turn it back on is when they will blow. Tonight, I was getting ready to do the idle re-learn because I had to replace my battery after it died on me. Well, I went to go get something to eat and the next thing I know, when I get back to my apartment and park the car to get ready to do the idle re-learn, it won't start back up.
So, I checked my ECM fuse and sure enough it was blown. This is the second time that this has happened. I don't want to be stuck somewhere when this happens. What could be the cause of this.

Re: '92 Lumina blowing ECM fuses

After trying it again today, I realized that the fuses are blowing when I turn the car off. I'm looking to see what could be the problem now.

Re: '92 Lumina blowing ECM fuses

Since the ECM's are mounted under the hood, they are exposed to corrosion both internally, and in the wiring harness. If the OEM service number on your ECM is 1227727, I would say you need a new one. That particular ECM is a high failure part due to it's operating environment.

Re: '92 Lumina blowing ECM fuses

I bought a new ECM a few years ago when I put new head gaskets on the car. I had an idea that the alternator might be over charging the car and making it blow fuses. I took the alternator to Autozone to get checked and it's bad too.

Now my next question is, do you all think that the alternator overcharging could cause the fuses to blow?
