Re: gotta a question about turbos

Unfortunately it’s not just a matter of bolting on the turbo.
You would need the entire wiring setup from the turbo and I believe it has larger injectors as well. You need the turbo intake manifold and intercooler and would need the turbo manifold & down pipe for it as well as a new hood if you wanted to use the stock intercooler. Everything would need to be replaced, right down to the rotors which are higher compression in the non turbo.
It’s much easier to buy a turbo engine and wiring harness and swap it in. The turbo engine will match up to a na tranny and the only major thing you will need to change in the swap is hood.

Keep in mind the na drive train is not as beefy as the turbo and the parts are not interchangeable.. For example you can through in a turbo differential because it won’t match to the drive shaft which cant be replaced with out replacing the tranny.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong about any of this...

As a side note there are supercharger kits for the na 13b that can kick ass.. I cant name any off the top of my head but look around.

Re: gotta a question about turbos

camden has a supercharger kit for the n/a

dont bother with a n/a motor if you want turbo, just buy a complete jdm turbo engine (around $1200, thats cheap) have it rebuilt if you want and then swap.

if you are using the non turbo drivetrain:
- you can just change the engines but you need to swap the flywheel and counterweight
- you can do both turbo engine and turbo trans but you need a custom drive shaft (i heard automatic driveshafts work too)
- you can have everything turbo except the transmission but that necesitates a flywheel swap and a custom driveshaft
- using turbo drivetrain, you swap everything over.

that means engine trans diff and axles along with some little things like the wiring and what not.

i would either do it with the turbo engine and trans and a custom driveshaft or just use the whole turbo drivetrain.

I just saw 13bt's yesterday on multiple JDM sites for around 850 + shipping. Apparently. they are getting cheaper.

Re: gotta a question about turbos

The camden kit is GARBAGE, don't even bother with it. Like others have said, go with a TII motor swap. JDM motors are cheap, but you never know what you are getting. They are generally pulled from junk yards and could have been sitting a long time (NOT good). They usually need to be rebuilt. Also it is highly recommended to swap the entire drivetrain as many will tell you, the NA tranny can't take a lot of power. A few say it will, but most don't agree.
