my 330xi randomly started shifting SUPER hard. this started immediately after i put the alternator in. it shouldn't have anything to do with that though. there is a "!" with a circle around it directly to the left of the gear indicator in the gauge cluster. what does this mean?

System detected a fault in transmission and tranny went to the" limp" mode.
You have retrive fault code from transmission module to find out what is wrong with it.
