Is it pointless to run headers on a stock Y pipe?

I know for LT's u cant run them with a stock Y. You gotta get an ORY from the company u buy ur headers from.

U CANT. U NEED A NEW Y PIPE FOR LT HEADERS!!!! U CANNOT USE THE OLD ONE. i was told if u swap y pipes w/o changing headers the car gets louder and drinks more gas and u feel a bit of a power change. I dont know if its true or not

Re: pointless?

You need an aftermarket Y-Pipe with ANY longtube headers.

Re: pointless?

on my 92 camaro i have to have a diffrent y-pipe for shorties also. On just about all of them you do, or they need to be fabercated.

Re: pointless?

Shorties aren't worth much power on the LS1.
Stock manifolds are almost as good as shorties for flow.

Drop the money...get Pacesetter longtubes and y-pipe. Worth it in the long run.
