1999 silverado at 112,000 has developed a squeal/ sqeaklilyorkie 03-24-2006, 10:30 PM it has a 5.3 and when started has this squeak. as the weather warms it squeaks less, changed the tensioner pulley, that had no affect on it. I am told it might be the water pump???? Help. 97cavalier 03-24-2006, 10:59 PM how old are the belts? lilyorkie 03-24-2006, 11:01 PM changed the serpentine at like 50K and other is the original on the a/c think it is the belts? or belt? The a/c one is long overdue, its the original at 112,000 jveik 03-25-2006, 02:21 AM yeah if them bearings are bad, maybe it would be more prone to squeak under the greater force needed to spin the stuff lilyorkie 04-24-2006, 08:44 AM anyone have a idea, seems like cold mornings or if it is wet damp it is worse. intel_guy 04-24-2006, 11:45 AM My AC tensioner went south and I had more of an annoying grinding sound when it was disengaged, not squealing. Would one of those automotive stethescopes work to find the squeal ? lilyorkie 04-24-2006, 01:13 PM I tried a new tensioner pulley on the main belt and it made no difference, Have not tried the a/c one though. lilyorkie 04-24-2006, 09:29 PM put a new a/c belt on and all squeal is gone. I had tried new tensioner pulley on the other belt and new main acces. belt, but it was the little a/c belt doing it all. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
