Check your plastic hood on your TBI for clunking

For the longest two months of my life, I could not figure out what was clunking that appeared to be under my passenger side of my Blazer.

I had the front end aligned. New shocks put on (they were needed anyways). I had the zirks all greased up. But the noise was still there. Every time I would go over a decent bump or pothole, I heard a clunk.

Many of you suggested it would be a suspension component. That checked out fine during the alignment. Some have suggested the sway bay bushings. Still fine there.

Well today I poured some SeaFoam down my TBI and when I went to put the TBI cover back on I noticed the mounting screw was loose on the TBI. This screw is what is used to secure the plastic housing to the TBI. So when I put the housing back on, I could easily move the housing that was supposed to be attached firmly to the TBI.

The simple fix was just tighten the bolt down a little more.

So far I have ZERO clunks going over things.

Just a thing to check ppl.

It seems odd that the cover would make that much of a clunk noise, unless it was really loose. Even when mine is in place without the screw it is still snug over the throttle body.

My first indication for the clunk in your case would be to have the hood washers added. Do a search on the forum as GM released a TSB for such a clunk.

I investigated the "clunk" problem already thru that link. It wasn't the issue. It would what I mentioned already above.
