According to a Mag I read in the store, there are rumors that Toyota might make another assault at the 24 hours classic in the near future. Rumor said that a Le Mans trimmed Toyota GT-One is spotted in testing at some European tracks. This is strange because GT-One 's main duty nowadays are to test the component for Toyota's F1 effort, but a Le Mans trim GT-One maybe a sign of interest for their return to Le Mans. The rumor also said that they might not return as Toyota, but as Lexus.

Le Mans is more consumer base from a company's point of view than F-1. A Le Mans victory would says a lot about a car's construction and reliability. Audi gains a lot of publicity from their 1-2-3 at Le Mans and Bentley want to revive their image. Lexus never had a sporty image before and a Le Mans win would do it some good....

RacingManiac- No offense, but what mag? Toyota right now has publically said no Le Mans, and since their F1 program is just starting, the likelyhood of a comeback is very, very, VERY far off.

Ok, I found the name on the net. The mag is a British Mag called Racetech. The rumor was in the Dec 200/Jan 2001 issue(bi-monthly?). It's pretty early in that issue there is an article discuss about the Bentley Le Mans car. On the top of the right side bar there is a small point talking about the Toyota thing.....

No, Porshe is the best. Audi is almost as good, mainly because of R&D input from Porsche.
I read somewhere that the FIA is planning a return to the GT1 class. I greatly preferred the GT1 over the LMP class, after all, the GT1s were a hyper extension of a production model...
I think Toyota could come back if GT1 returns. They put a ton of time and money into the GT-One, and they weren't prepared for LMP. Too bad about those transaxles, maybe they should have taken a few pointers from Porsche ...

Are you trying to tell me that Porsche does not compare to Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Bugatti, Maserati, Opel, (and the list goes on).
Because that consept does not make any sence if you ask me.
