drum brake help!rgbdab 07-06-2002, 01:34 PM I am changing the rear drum brakes on my wifes 97 civic, I have changed drum brakes before but not on a honda, how to you get the drums off? Is there a trick, on american cars you just pull them off, if there's a retaining clip to remove it first, but thats all. The drum won't just slide off on her car. Any help is appreciated. Rick rgbdab 07-06-2002, 03:31 PM Either my question is so stupid it doesn't deserve an answer or newbies aren't welcome here, thanks anway. Rice-Rocketeer 07-09-2002, 02:46 AM I'm assuming you're talking about about the drum brake cover? If that's the case, yes, you simply pull it off. Just make sure the thing isn't engaged first :) If it doesn't simply pull off, bang it with a rubber mallet or there are threaded bolt holes that you can stick bolts in and use for leverage. Moppie 07-09-2002, 03:49 AM Arnt there two retianing screws in the face of the drum? If not then useing the threaded holes in the face of the drum will get it off very easily.
