Auto shop wants $116 to replace and "flush" Automatic tranny on my 2002 civic. Is the flush a term for replace transmission fluid:2cents: or is there something to it. If I replace the fluid myself. What transmission fluid do people recommend? Besides Honda brand transmission fluid.

Use genuine Honda ATF for flushing. Flushing means that you put in fresh ATF and get it hot, then replace with new batch if you DIY. Shop does it with a flushing machine and it is bettern than DIY. Anyways Honda ATF does not cost whole lot more than the others.

A “flush” & a transmission “oil change” are 2 different things. With the flush you’ll flush out more crap than you would with a simple oil change. If you can afford it get it, if not then ask for a simple transmission oil change.
