roll up or trifold tonneau cover

I am looking for a cover I think Ive narrowed it down to the roll up or tri fold. Anyone have one of these, pros or cons? I dont haul stuff in the back to often but sometimes I haul my 4 wheeler.

I would think the rollup would give you more cargo room for hauling big items. Such as a 4wheeler.

Re: roll up or trifold tonneau cover

Had a Lund roll-up cover on my last truck and I have a Lund Tri-Fold on the truck I own now, and the difference is like night and day. The Tri-Fold is much more "user friendly", easier to install and easier to remove as it is a one piece unit including the cover and frame. It can be completely removed in about 2 minutes if the entire bed is required for hauling large items. Good luck.

The other nice part of the tri-fold vs. the roll-up is the extra sound deadening...

I agree. If it can be taken off easily, get the trifold. I have a roll up and I also haul a 4 wheeler on occasion and the rollup prevents me from shutting the tailgate with the ATV in the back. I wish I would have done a bit more research before buying the rollup. Its nice, but takes up precious room in the box.

Re: roll up or trifold tonneau cover

I had an access roll up and loved it. the access cover is velcro so it is much easier to open and close than most other roll ups. I could open and close it in about a minute. it rolls all the way up to the cab so you have full access to the bed. One problem I've seen with any hard top type is if your at the store and get something big is that you usually have to go home first and remove the top then return to the store to get your package. I've never owned a hard top but have had friends that did and other roll ups and all of them perferred my access cover due the velcro being so easy to operate.

Re: roll up or trifold tonneau cover

My father-in-law has a '99 with a long box and a Access roll-up cover. I have a '00 Sierra with a Lund Genesis Roll-up cover. He paid about $450 for his and I paid about $230 for mine. Both are great covers and offer essentially the same accessiblitly. However, the Lund is half the price for virtually the same utility. If you really need to completely remove the cover, all you need is 10 seconds and 7/16 wrench and it is gone, for both models. If I had one cover to promote over all others, regardless of cost, I would definately choose the Lund Genesis Roll-Up Cover. It offers quite a bit more wet coverage over the Access Roll up.

Long time no see Beer-B-Q....

Tri-Fold leaves no frame, others take up room with the frame left on the rails.

Each to his own. Tri-Fold - light, folds up, gone....

Re: roll up or trifold tonneau cover

Hello jethro how is San Antonio treating you? I am planning on getting a tonneau and a new muffler. I am thinking about a dynomax straight through, what do you think?
