97 Blazer wiper circuit board

Does anyone know of a source for the wiper circuit board for a 97 Blazer? Also, could someone either post a picture of where on the car it is located or at least describe where it is? Thanks. Mine are now doing a new thing where they just go on whenever they feel like it. Reminds me of "Christine."

Re: 97 Blazer wiper circuit board

The pulse board sits on top of the wiper motor, which is under the hood on the firewall.
They cost $25-40.00 depending on where you buy them., available at most major chain parts stores. I bought mine at Napa for $30.00 2 years ago.

It's an easy replacement job. Remove the plastic cover on top of the wiper motor, remove the connector(s), then remove the circuit board (pulse board).
re-install the new pulse board, reconnect, add some RTV to the cover and attach it. 30 minutes max.

This was a special policy recall from GM for '97 Blazers. Unfortunately, it expired in Feb. of 2004, and I didn't find my notice until March of '04 and GM wouldn't honor it.

Re: 97 Blazer wiper circuit board

Need the right size torx bit for this and do not over tighten when installing cause the board will flex - use that RTV around the edges to seal.

T20 Torx bit.

I should restate how the pulse board cover is situated. While it is mounted on the top of the wiper motor, it will actually appear to be facing you as you look at the firewall (appears to be mounted to the side of the wiper motor)

Have your dealer Run your vin no. it may be under recall.
If not a drop of solder will fix 99 % of them.
Look for a crack on the circuit board usually where 12 volt power feeds into it on back side of power plug prongs.

The pulse board issue was a "special policy" service bulletin for '97s, not a recall, that ran from Feb. '03 and expired Feb.'04. It only covered vehicles that were less than 7 years old or less than 70,000 miles. The bulletin was mailed to the original owner, or to the registered second owner if the original warranty was transfered.

Whatever you do, do not buy it from a dealer. The main Chevy dealer here wanted $120.00 for that baby.
