Buzzing sound in dash and clock resetMyWife 03-11-2006, 02:29 PM I have a '97 Passat Wagon V6 that no dealer can find a problem with, but perhaps you can help. When I turn the car on there is a buzzing sound in the dashboard (behind the speedometer) and the odometer and clock reset themselves. This does not happen every time I start the car, but frequently. I have seen similar posts on the web describing the exact same thing, but no answers. Anyone know what’s causing this? Thanks! veedubmechanic 03-11-2006, 05:43 PM sounds like the instrument cluster is faulty. pretty common problem MyWife 03-11-2006, 06:43 PM Thank you! Would a faulty instrument cluster be consistent with the oil & water temp. gauges and tach dropping to zero during start up (which is when the clock and trip odometer reset)? veedubmechanic 03-13-2006, 12:35 PM check the 20a fuse in the engine compartment next to the battery. also check the fuse next to the coolant resivour MyWife 03-13-2006, 04:48 PM I've checked those fuses and both are OK. Still think it's the instrument cluster? Thanks! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
