Struggling with my baby and NYS emmisionsBob S. 03-09-2006, 07:50 PM I took my 1989 S10 4.3 for its NY State inspection today and she failed. The Shop said it was burning way too rich. They said it may have a bad cylinder. Before I went for inspection I changed the oil, air filter, PCV valve, cap and rotor. It seemed to be running so well that I did not do the plugs, spark plug wires or timing (which have not been checked in awhile). After I take care of the plugs and wires is there anything I can do to make sure she is running well enough to pass the emmissions test. I tremble at the thought of not having her pass a second time or maybe even worse, having the shop rape my wallet and still not get it to pass. Thanks OverBoardProject 03-10-2006, 01:54 AM Check the compression while you have the plugs out. This should reveal a weak cylinder This article is something to read and consider as well http://www.timebomb2000.com/vb/showthread.php?t=143848 Give it a good highway run as well. Other than that I really can't recomend much. I haven't had to go through a polution inspection place in over 10 years Good Luck vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
