On the market for headers
Ok i thought about it several times. People keep telling me to stay away from headers with the loudmouth but iv heard some cars with them and im convinced to get some nice LT's. Plus the bird will breath better to. So iv narrowed it down to 2 kinds Hooker or QTP. Hooker are great headers and for the performance gains i dont think ill regret paying the $500-600 price tag. Then theres QTP the "cream of the crop," but i dont know if its worth paying $800 for them. What do you guys recomend. Im not convinced on Pace Setters. What will u think will be the best move. I have the regular bolt ons and might swap cams later on down the road. Pluse what muffler shoul i get when i replace the resonator. Flowmaster???

Re: On the market for headers
NO FLOWMASTER!!!
Dynomouth.
Headers...The Jet hots might be what you are looking for. They are coated hooker headers.
QTP = GREAT headers. I have the sister make...Kooks. They look great and fit great. Stainless helps as well.
Let me know what you are looking to spend. Lots of people have Pacesetters and have been VERY happy with them. Even more so for the price.

Re: On the market for headers
$500 is the MAX. I might sound cheap but i gotta get a new Y-pipe to. So around 400-500. Do i need to get them coated. People say they last much longer too if you do. Are the headers marked with the manufacturer's name on each head or on the pipes or what.

Yeah but u got flowmasters not the loudmouth. Iv heard a couple cars with flows and headers and to be honest it was as loud as the stock loudmouth.

Good luck.
Pacesetter with y-pipe = $505 shipped from www.byunspeed.com right now. That is on sale.
This is probably your best bet.

Re: On the market for headers
thanks guys. While were on this topic i just wanted to ask a question. I recently saw HP TV the other day. They had a 98 SS camaro 6spd in the shop. When they first got it the car dynoed at 300 at the rear wheels. After adding a flowmaster catback, Flowpack cold air kit, and a 80mm BBK TB. They only saw a gain of 19HP??? how is this possible, i mean i thoguht the exhaust and TB wwould give you 25-30 alone.

Re: On the market for headers
With headers, LS6 intake, Loudmouth, Lid, smooth bellows I dyno'd 335/343.
Loudmouth/lid = 320/333
Add cam = 376.8/370.8
Never believe what companies say each mod adds.
One of the biggest problems on the dyno you mentioned is the Blowmaster.
Flowmaster won't be a problem for most cars...but they plain out don't flow well. Most cars it is a little difference...couple HP at most. You would never notice.

Re: On the market for headers
i love that sound though, i rather lose 3hp and go with flowmaster, than sound like stock and have 3 more hp.

Re: On the market for headers
Other cat-backs don't sound stock.
