98"passat climate control, electric problem. PLS HELP

I bought a 98 passat car from a second hand car dealer, after 2 days I found out it has a dead battery, I replaced the battery and then found out another problem( i DID NOT USE THE CAR BEFORE CHANGING BATTERY, SO NOT SO SURE WHETHER THE CLIMATE CONTROL IS WORKING). the climate control, heated front and back window, heated seats are not working, I clearly remember it was working when I bought the car that day. does it mean that changing battery locked the system, it locked the radio but I have sorted it out.

PLS HELP!

Heated front window? we dont have that in us. I say check all the fuses on the pannel on the left dash (remove the cover). There should be a picture diagram of the fuses (look for the one that looks like a seat with heat coming off it or window.)

climatronic is what you have with auto settings, no dials to turn.

the system sometimes needs to have a basic setting performed.
ALso comfort modules are a common problem on these, its under the driver side carpet, the wiring also has a poor design flaw and water getting into the floor can cause shorts in the wires.

err... comfort modules? what should I do? when I switch on the air con, the system just like a computer just restarted, all the light display on the panel( for example- it displays 88888, arrows, everything it can display, after I press some buttons, the display goes back to normal). I can hear some clicking noise behind the blower.

thank u for your consistant help.

Re: 98"passat climate control, electric problem. PLS HELP

to me it sounds like the head unit is bad. The module is part of it.

Re: 98"passat climate control, electric problem. PLS HELP

well if you bought it from a vw dealer they might have a 30day warranty???

Its very simple to replace the climatronic head unit. Just remove the radio and the unitjust pops out and unplugs. Takes maybe 30min for unexperienced person (plus you need the radio code also because you unplug the radio)
