75 trans am killed by porschemustanglxboy 03-05-2006, 02:58 PM i originally posted this under the trans am forum but someone told me it was in the wrong section so i moved it here. Oh man this was so much fun. we were on highway 27 on the way to fort wayne indiana, from decatur indiana. Its about a 20 minute drive. anyways we were cruising along just leaving town and all of a sudden i hear this kinda high pitched exhaust note and immediately i thought it was a honda or something ricey but it was a porsche 911 probably a late 70s early 80s well he cruises up beside us and just sits there looking at us, so dad throughs the ta in neutral and starts reving it at him so the dude in the porsche speeds up and then slows down a couple of times and then pulls even im surprised he wanted to go because theres 455 ho decals on the shaker and the motor was just recently freshened up with an aluminum intake and a new holley + some headers. Not alot but enough to keep it running good anyways dad holds up 3 fingers and then puts one down then another then the last one and they both floor it. We were already in 2nd gear you know so there was only 3 left. we both took off we stay even matching shifts i bet but the ta kicked sideways into 3rd scaring the hell out of me but dad just laughed. i watch the speedo approach 100 mph and then dad puts it in 4th and the needle jumps to 110 and climbing. the porsche is still right even and this dude in there has a really surprised look on his face. dad puts it in fifth and pulls ahead for a about 15-20 seconds and then that porsche kicks into 6th and just starts pulling like crazy and passes usand keeps going. we hit 135 mph atleast i dont know for sure i was to busy watching this porsche beat my dads car i thought was invincible. dad just looks over at me and says damn porsches have to many gears and then laughs and slows down. Tony xXxRocker5150 03-05-2006, 03:43 PM Did your dad upgrade your tranny or something, cuz the 78 Trans am I wanted to buy had a 4spd manual... either way, nice death mustanglxboy 03-05-2006, 03:52 PM yes the tranny was swapped out of another car. Good job that you noticed that. Tony TatII 03-05-2006, 06:58 PM how fast is that T/A expected to be? sounds pretty mean. VR43000GT 03-05-2006, 07:06 PM Nice death, what else has your dad put into the T/A other than the 5spd? mustanglxboy 03-05-2006, 07:32 PM truthfully i couldnt tell you how fast it is supposed to be i know its been to atleast 135 mph. I just asked him what all is on his car and he said he has: stuff he installed: hooker headers 3" exhaust dual dynatech race mufflers all new gaskets and arp bolts holley fuel pump edelbrock single plane intake manifold holley 750cfm carb with electric choke moroso oil pan stuff it came with: new paint extra set of honeycomb wheels flexalite fan aluminum radiator and 5 speed tranny, hes not sure what it is out of Tony mustanglxboy 03-05-2006, 07:51 PM ok here is a picture of the car sorry for how crappy it is but i am trying to take a picture of a picture. Bandit has the 400ci motor but with an auto tranny, correct? Mustanglx has the 5spd with some bolt ons. Could be close. 79Bandit 03-05-2006, 11:10 PM Ha, I'd like to here how that one would turn out. It very well could. I'm just going on the basics of a a manual usually faster in acceleration than a stick. And what other mods do you have? You should list them on your sig. -The Stig- 03-05-2006, 11:47 PM Quit the bench racing, just get out there and do it already. 209 SRT 03-06-2006, 12:02 AM I didnt know those year 911 came with a 6speed option...... 79Bandit 03-06-2006, 12:22 AM ehh win or lose i still booze... 209 SRT 03-06-2006, 12:26 AM high or dry I still eat apple pie.......
