OK my girlfriend’s daughter drives a 2000 cavalier and she had it tuned up, plugs wires, fuel filter... because it was getting a misfire error code. Well now the damn thing still acts like it is misfiring climbing hills or upon acceleration. The car went back to the shop that did the original repairs and they got the car back and it ran fine most of the day and it started to do the same thing again after about half a day of driving around town.
The mechanic said they replaced the map sensor and checked the fuel pressure regulator and the CAT. They said they drove it around for a half hour and it seemed fine. I was outside messing around with it and noticed that it would surge at higher RPMS, so for the hell of it I pushed the accelerator to the floor; the idle did not raise it just made the surge more noticeable. The surge is constant almost like every second it is getting a shot of gas...
Any suggestions would be great.
Ohhh the car is a 4 door with a 2200 cc motor, auto tranny.
Here is a link to the one she got on there. There are two and for this price go for it. Just amke sure the part number is #d555 and it will work for this brand name. Also it could be your cat clogged how many miles are on teh car.
It is my girlfriends daughters car and they don't want to take it back to the same place. The mechanic said bring it back, it never happened, I am just getting tired or the car sitting in my driveway. Soooo if I can fix it while it is here then COOL they can take it home...
