EVO VIII vs muscle cars...
While making postings for my upcoming car meet, I've received replies from muscle car owners (mostly Mustang owners) that four cyl cars should not be viewed as performance cars. I own a 2005 EVO which I enjoy driving and I feel it has adequate power, but I've never driven a mustang so I don't know how the two compare. Does anyone know how an EVO would compare to a mustang in a drag race? I can assume the EVO would walk away from a Mustang in a twisty race.

Re: EVO VIII vs muscle cars...
Well I've only seen videos, but there's this one of a 700hp Evo9 going up against some other equally powered domestics (Kenne Belle Stangs, Trans Am, etc.), and the Evo walked on all of them. Its on streetfire.net if you wanna search for it.
Common sense would say you'd have the holeshot, but they might take you on the top end granted you haven't already open the gap up too wide.
I say just show them what the best L4 turbo in the world can do and shut them up.
Edit: If you're talking about stock for stock, Evo vs. Mustang GT, you'd win hands down. Now those SVT Cobra's are a different story...

I think the comparison is based on what you can buy from the dealer down the street.

The Evolution should not be considered a Drag car.
I would like to see a Mustang go around a corner like an Evolution.

Agreed. But if we're talking stock for stock, the only Mustang that you'd have to worry about are the newer Cobras and WS6 Trans Ams. Otherwise you'll be fine, but just ask them to go to a road course and watch them shut their mouths.

yes, a cobra will win. At least the cobra i raced. he SMOKED me but he also had some work done to it. it seems that alot of people that have muscle cars dont respect evo's or sti's. not all but quite a few where i live. it is so much fun when i beat one. yet i have had people still say that it isnt fast when i just beat them

Re: EVO VIII vs muscle cars...
I hate mustang owners. They think they and their car are the gift to the world from God himself. I love beating mustangs.

4 cyl. cars can def be considered performance cars. stock for stock an EVO can't beat a cobra or ls1,, but they can def hang with stangs, and there's even some stock 4 bangers that are faster than pony cars (i.e. lotus elise)..some muscle car owners just can't accept the fact that there are some pretty quick cars out there with only 4 cylinders. they just need to understand that not all 4cyl foreign cars are civics.

Re: EVO VIII vs muscle cars...
wow, you are a rare breed of v8 muscle car owners that give respect to a 4 banger. a stock evo or sti cannot beat a cabra or ls1 but a modified evo or sti could beat a cobra or ls1, unless they are also modified as well. then you would just HAVE to race to find out. would be fun.
