97 2.4 dying on me...please help!!!

ok heres the story. this is my wifes car and i have been driving it to and from work (10 miles away). the car drives fine until i get to work and i hit a stop sign or light and it wants to idle rough on me and then die. when i try to start it again and hit the gas it doesnt respond and just dies again. if i let it sit for 10-15 minutes after it dies it starts up and runs fine. i have taken it to every chevy mechanic in town and they have no idea what is wrong with it. the last guy i took it to replaced the fuel filter and it appeared to have done the trick until i got down to a 1/4 tank of gas (today) and it died on me again. and i have noticed that it tends to do it more frequently when i am at less than 1/2 a tank. if anyone has any insight on the problem i would GREATLY appreciate it. i have been driving this car like this for 6 months and would really like to get it fixed so i can drive it more then 20 miles without getting stuck on the side of the road.

Re: 97 2.4 dying on me...please help!!!

i have run into similar problems on several gm cars and it always seems to bee one of 3 things i would say in your case its likely the fuel pump going south when its hot because the filter helped for a bit or the ignition module or crank sensor affected by engine heat (easy test put a used cover on from the wreckers that will test the module) and drive it or put a fuel pressure gauge on it and drive it...
good luck
let me know always curious
