ok so i have a 2000 se and it has like 110,000 miles on it. tonight when i was driving home everytime i pushed the gas pedal it made this really loud strange sound like 2 plates rubbing together. i think it was coming from the transmission. i just got new tires on the car and they are bigger than the tires that were on it, and they are much more aggressive(Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo-which is an awesome tire by the way-but they are expensive-$700 for my set). i think i put to much stain on the trans. also when i shift from like reverse to drive, there is a loud thump sound, this also happens ever time i stop after going over like 10 mph. also when going from like reverse to drive it takes about 5 to 10 seconds for it to engage, and i have forgot about this every once in a while. and i get excited and hit the gas before it engages, and then the loud thump sound. if yall have any ideas about this please let me know. thanks. dj arrington

I pretty much have similar problem, bigger tires, 110K I have noticed that the thump only occurs on the cold engin. Pne warmed up the shifting is very smooth. If this helps!!!
