Help on programming 92 vette keyless entry

I have a 92 vette and was given a keyless remote fob with the vehicle. The previous owner said it worked but I have changed the battery and cannot get it to work. How do I program it to open the doors, etc.

I have the same problem with a 1999 corvette.
