question about intake manifolds and heads...

Ok here's the deal. I have a pair of Brodix aluminum heads on my 355. The bolt holes for the intake manifold are the old style where they all angle the same. My intake manifold, A Holley TBI, which is the only manifold I can use, has the newer style bolt holes, where the center 4 are angled different. Now I've heard of ppl machining older style intakes to fit on newer style heads, but not the other way around, which is what I need to do.

I've also found this adapter kit at summit http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...-90748&FROM=MG

it has angled spacers to align the bolts to go into the heads, but again, it's for putting older manifolds on newer heads, so here's my question... If i were to turn the angled spacer to face the other direction, will it work in the opposite manner that I need, and allow the use of my newer style manifold to my older style heads?

Re: question about intake manifolds and heads...

Summit couldn't answer that one for you???

Maybe ask them to ask the manufacturer for you???

Sorry, Geno... outta my league with the technical questions.

i haven't asked summit or the manufacturer, I don't like talking on phones, so that'll be a last resort if someone can't tell me here.

Re: question about intake manifolds and heads...

Why not just get a junk TBI manifold and practice expanding the 4 center holes before you go after your?

You know like learning how to port and polish, start with the head off a geo if you have to before you go for the real deal, right?

I'll call summit for you and ask if you don't want to. Just give me the part number of the adapter.

i'm not talking about expanding anything, i'm asking if the adapter can be reversed to work with my application.

I've heard of this typ of problem when switching 305 to 350 heads or something like that. The corrective action was to 'oblong' the bolt holes through the manifold to accomodate them in the heads. That's why I suggested it.
