Lights

Is it possible to install fog lights or driving/off road lights directly on a 2003 prerunner bumper? If so, where and how did you do it?

Re: Lights

I think you are asking if you can run fog/driving lights from the headlight circuits? If that is your question, it's not a good idea because the wiring circuits aren't designed to carry the added load. There is a headlamp relay in the under hood fuse/relay box. It would be better to use the relay input from the headlight switch to a separate relay to control the fog lights. The power for the fog lights should come from the battery to the relay. The power to the relay should be fused. A 30-40 amp Bosch type relay should adequate. The four pins should be wired as follows. 12 volts to pin 85, ground to pin 86. 85 & 86 six aren't polarity sensitive so either way is OK. Off hand I'm nor sure if the Tacoma headlight supplies a ground or 12 volts. Pin 30 should have 12 volts from the battery source. Pin 87 goes to the lights. To the lights use 12 or 14 gauge wiring unless you are using hi output lights. Power into the relay should be 12 gauge or 10 gauge if using hi power lights.

The problem with this type wiring is that the fog lights will be on any time the headlights are on. It may not be legal in some states. You could wire in a switch, but why bother to wire it into your headlights.

To find detailed on the wiring of your Prerunner see;

Look in the wiring diagram.

Re: Lights

I'm sorry I should've made myself more clear. My question was supposed to be simple, and not to have that technical of an answer. I was simply asking if anyone had installed an auxiliary lighting system on the bumper (without the need of a light bar); like attached them somewhere under the bumper, etc. and where/ how they did it.
Thanks
