What's the best compact sedan/coupe under 10k (besides a honda civic and toyota corolla)? Im especially interested in european cars-what would be the most reliable option out of those cars?

to follow up on my first post...these are the cars ive been looking at-

-Audi a4
-BMW 3 series
-Volvo S40
-Saab 9-5

The above cars would be my primary choices but im open to other car models as well. What i need to know which one of the above are the most reliable and cheapest to fix.

I'd say the volvo is cheapest to fix, and pretty reliable, but would you consider a VW jetta?

i would consider vw's what about the passat and the gti? However I've looked at carsurvey's website and it seems that lots of people have had trouble with vw's and european cars in general.

yes, they do have their faults, but the newer years (03-now) seem to be fairly good cars. yeah, the passat and GTI are also good, but a little more pricy.

stick away from VW, unless you want electrical problems.

for under 10g, i would look for something other than euro. if you are only spending 10g's then you probably dont want spend the money to fix them,

id suggest something in the way of a maxima, or some other japanese car. the reliability will be much better
