Cat Converter/Dual Exhaust Price

I took my truck to a local tire/mufler shop for an estimate today
97c/k1500 5.7l v8

2 Magnaflow hi-flow cat converters
Magnaflow dual performance exhaust
Flowmaster muffler

all for $800

does that seem like a reasonable price?

Thansk again.

Re: Cat Converter/Dual Exhaust Price

That all depends on how much you are willing to pay, if you don't trust the price do some price shopping either around town or even get on the internet and see what the same components would run you. I would probably figure $100 to $200 in labor to install cats and the exhaust system. The rip-off's, I mean the exhaust shops here where I live to just do cat back on a truck like this would charge $280-$350, depending on witch muffler you get. I would make sure that you are getting good hi-flow cats and not cheap ones.

Re: Cat Converter/Dual Exhaust Price

that seams about right since your adding cats in to the mix. one thing to consider are thay using cheap pipes. I have a mufler shop there prices are realy low. I can get dual pipes from the cats back and its only $200. there pipes only last a year or just over. You got to keep going back to them to have the pipes redone. thay use very thin wall stuff so thay can bend it. If you want the good stuff it takes dang neer 30 days befor your exhaust is installed. thay got to get a very big order befor there company will ship the good thick pipes.

If you're keeping the truck for more than a couple of years you want aluminized pipe as a minimum and stainless if you're serious about longevity.

PS I put on one Cat and one Mufler with two pipes out to one side .But you can go out the back for Duals. The Flowmaster sounds great ,not to load but nice or go with 40 sears and wake up the dead. I have a fee years on so I like It smoth.

Re: Cat Converter/Dual Exhaust Price

If you really think about it, it sounds pretty decent. For one thing, a lot of that is coming from the name, Magnaflow and Flowmaster. Although there great, sometimes ordinary cats will do the job just fine. Just wondering how you got 2 cats under the truck? Is that stock? My 94 runs one cat, no mufler and splits out to two duals. Are you replacing a previous exhaust system thats not stock or opting for a new exhaust w/ two converters because i did not know of any coming stock with two? But anyway, for two Magnaflow cats, the pipes, muffler, tips, work/labor that sounds just about right.

Re: Cat Converter/Dual Exhaust Price

Save some money, dont buy the high flow cats. Just buy new standard cats. Todays cats flow pretty good. The last cat I bought I could dang near see through. A world of difference compared to the stockers.
