1987 240 DL wagon. I have gone through 4 batteries in 8 weeks.
Alternator has been removed and tested good, New voltage regulator installed. All of the wire connection have been cleaned and appear to be tight, I have conectivity through the wire from the alt to starter and from the starter to the battery.
Voltmeter shows 14 at alternator and 13.5-13.6 at the battery with car running.
The car runs about 4 days then it won't start, the battery is dead. The first three checked out at the auto parts store as being bad, wouldn't hold a charge anymore. I'm about to return my 4th battery.
Any suggestions as to what else could be destoying these batteries?

Don't know if this will help. but I once had to replace the alternator on my old 1982 Vo, then the battery goes dead and we replace it, then the alternator went, changed that again, then the battery, again, on and on until we were up to 4 alternators, 3 batteries and now the regulator goes. At that point, I had my mechanic take them all out and replaced them all at the same time and no problems after that.
It took 5 alternators, 4 batteries and 1 regulator total!!
Can't explain it, but it worked.

You might have a short somewhere that is constantly drawing power from the battery. It happens sometimes. I'm not sure where to have you start, the folks over at turbobricks.com or brickboard may be able to steer you in the right direction.

take off one of your battery terminals and rub it against the post with the key off. if you get blue sparks and the electricity noise, you have a short somewhere. If you have a short, then pull fuses until it goes away that will tell you what circuit it is.
