Rubbing sound when turning steering wheel

I have on 03GT and i have had nothing but problems with the front end...The latest now is everytime i turn the steering wheel at low speed back and fourth I can hear something rubbing down by the firewall area inside the engine.. It sounds like something that is made out of rubber is hitting something when turning the wheel since it makes more of a squeaking sound...
It only does it after the engine has heated up.. It has been to the dealership 3 times now and it gets fixed for about 3 days then starts back making the noise again..I have to drive down a 4 story parking garage everyday at home and the constant turning back and fourth going around concrete pillars and having to listen to this constant rubbing drives me nuts!

Re: Rubbing sound when turning steering wheel

Does it make the noise as you turn the steering wheel or will it do it when you get the wheel into position, IE: coming down the parking garage and holding the wheel in one spot as you turn? Does the noise sound like it is related to the totation of the front wheels or will it do it if you are sitting still and turn the steering wheel?
Please let us know if you can think of any other things that may help narrow it down...IE: does it do it when it rains? any thing like that woll help.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply!! THe car can be sitting idle (Parked)while its running and you can hear it by turning the steering wheel slightly back and fourth..Like i said you can hear it coming from the steering shaft area when you raise the hood..Dealer replaced a "Spring kit" whatever the hell that is...Noise is back once again..
Only makes the noise once engine is warmed up..Its not coming from the actually steering wheel just near the firewall...I think everytime they look at it the car has cooled off and they never hear the noise, except for once the service dept. guy did and said yep its in the steering shaft area and HE no longers works at dealership... Im getting tired of taking it back! Will be my 4th time in 2 months and just dont have the time..Sounds like something i could probably look underneath and fix myself while someone turns the wheel back and fourth..
