alright, getting ready to do the swap in a week or two, the question i have is, i've heard the ka tranny has a taller 5th gear which i would like to keep, so thinkin about leavin that trans instead of swappin in the sr20 tranny, but how much hp will the ka24 trans hold up to?, also ne1 know how much boost the s13 sr20det will take without rick of major damage?

You wont need a longer 5th gear on a stock internal motor.
Stock internal black tops can take about 350whp before needing a headgasket, then at around 450+ they'll probably need internals.

Or like 25...
One of my friends did 380whp on pump gas on a GT35R and stock interals not to long ago...
Now he's building the motor for U.S. power record.

Re: ok, got a good one for ya
ka tranny will probably hold what your looking to do. Alot of people have 350-400+ on tranny. Some have alot higher.......but then people tend to go auto. For obvious reasons. But it all depends how well your tranny has been taken care off in the past decade. For all you know 3-4 kids could have learned how to drive a stick on that thing lol.

You'd have to swap the bellhousings tho, doesn't seem worth it.

I dont believe you have to swap the housing...
It will hold more than you got. I had a KAtrans in my RPS13
It held through all my powershifting, racing, the 250,000 miles with the KA...damn good trans! Great with 4.11 final gears also!
