Gm Are A Bunch Of Liers

so i took my car into Canadian Tire and got them to check my brakes and all this other crap that GM was trying to tell me they needed to be replaced, GM estimated 1300.00 to change my calipers and replace the front brakes, i took my car to Canadian tire and they said the tranny cooler line needs to be replaced cuz its leaking and the ABS wire harness needs to be replaces only 302.00$ and they said the calipers and everything else are fine, 1300.00 GM wanted and there was nothing wrong, thats the 2nd time theyve tryed to repair things that didnt need to be replaced, why do they pull shit like that, also ANYONE KNOW HOW TO ADJUST THE HEAD LIGHTS IN A 2001 GA SE, WITHOUT ADJUSTED THE TWO SCREWS TOO MUCH?

Well it's not really GM that are liars, is really more of the dealership... To be honest, i never really trust the judgement of a dealer when it come time for repairs. It's normally cheaper and I find more trust worthy to go to a regular mechanic, ( unless still covered under warranty) Also I would stop going to that dealer, they sound like they are rip off artist, you may want to try another dealer or mechanic from now on for repairs. For you headlight, the only way you can adjust is those 2 hex looking screws on top. No other ways that i know of or found.

Re: Gm Are A Bunch Of Liers

I agree with grfnkl, dealers are the problem not GM. There are some very good dealer service departments out there who only fix what needs to be done. However, there are a lot of dealers out there who try to make their entire budget on one repair. Of course there are repair shops who do the same thing. That is why it is always a good idea to get a second opinion when repair costs seem to be too high.

Also I think you can check the Better Business Bureaus for a shop or Stealershit, and see if they hav had anything filed against them in the past(like doing repaires that are not nessesary).
But It does all depend on if people complain and go to the BBB to file the incident.
Good Luck

Re: Gm Are A Bunch Of Liers

I agree with everyone on the post. I do not trust dealers as far as I can throw them. I took my truck in becuse it was having a hard time starting.. they wanted to charge me $1000 dollars to replace a fuel Pump.. I did some homework and found out it was the fuel preasure regulator. cost me only $100 and I put it in myself.

Re: Gm Are A Bunch Of Liers

You need to check any repair place out first Dealer or Repair shop.

Check around Ask around
Word of mouth.
Family friends coworkers neighbors business people and delivery people.
Mailmen and parcel delivery people get around and notice a lot of stuff.
Even a good parts house knows what shops are good and not good.
Chamber of commerce and better business bureau and city hall.
If you find a good referral to a repair shop go look them over and talk to them.
Look for a clean looking busy place with nice people running it.
Ask a few questions and ask about their qualifications and training.
Not all places have trained tech/mechanics.
If they do not find a place that does.
Even all dealers do not have all trained techs/mechanics.
