New 1/4 mile times for SS/SC.
Went to the track again tonight. Hadn't been there in over 2 months and it was around 68-70 degrees out tonight. Last best time was 14.69 @ 98 mph w/ a 2.4 60'. New best is 14.51 @ 99 mph w/ a 2.3 60'.
All mods are the same as the old best time but the track was prepped much nicer tonight than any other night I've been to Fireturd. I feathered it off a 1500 rpm launch and didn't get a bit of wheel hop. Had I known I was gonna be able to actually hook up without wheel hopping I would have given it a bit more agressive launch and cut the time down even more. I also only got 2 runs in and I was there for over 3 hours...and people wonder why we street race.
In other news my buddy got kicked out of the track after breaking his 13.55 tech time with a 13.3 @ 113 mph w/ a 2.4 60' in his convert 03 Cobra. It was his first time out to the track so I'd say he did damn good. His only mod is a magnaflow catback.

Re: New 1/4 mile times for SS/SC.
thats a damn good trap speed for the amount of mods you got, but why did your friend get kicked off the track for such a low time? don't your track require you to have a helment no matter what the time you run?

Thanks tat.
My buddy got the boot from the track because his car is a convertable and it has no roll cage or styling bar. Yes, they consider a styling bar worthy equipment to get a convertable into the 11's, what a joke. So now he's gotta install a cheapo styling bar to go back to the track. They were pissed at him for breaking out of his tech time as well, it was pretty funny. I hate the staff at that track.

For every mod you do, I'll do two. How's that? What else is left for improvement on your car anyway? Do you have poly mounts? How about a set of drag radials?
Have you considered the stg 12 gm kit for you car...it costs about $55,000 and they take your cavy and replace it with a C6, best mod ever.

Dude, it's been like 83+ out for a couple weeks here. Our track never closes, but this is the ONLY good time of year to run. My first time out the track air temps were 102 degrees at 10:30 pm!

ECU tuning you say... ...damn, I've run out of good smilies to use. How the hell are you going to tune the damn thing when the ECU still hasnt been cracked open. GM put an encryption on those things that insane and it's on a cavy! Why!?!?11 They did the same thing to the Cobalt as well, we're all a little pissed about that.
I also heard that a company was working hard at opening up the ECU for the cavy, but then stopped as soon as the C6 came out. I'm telling you dude, you need the stg 12 kit!
As far as the mods that can still be done to your car go, I can see mid 13's @ 102-104 mph easy, so long as you catch traction.

Re: New 1/4 mile times for SS/SC.
Good runs. I think you can run a 14.2 sec. 1/4 mile if you get out of the hole a little better. Keep practicing, and cut your 60' time down. Buy some BFG DR's and you'll run alot faster.

I'm positive I could get the times down a good bit more on this current setup. The problem is, it'll take a good amount more practice launching the car at the track. More practice means more runs, but how the hell do you get more practice at a track where you're only able to get two runs in three hours?!? I hate that track.

Don't even start. I go to a track where we only get two runs in 8 hours. Ask Danno and he will confirm.
