Wow! Didn't know spark plugs

were obviously as bad as they were.

Truck obviously needed a tune-up more then I thought it did; feels like a new engine. When I left the pay-toll this morning, on a section with a "mild" incline, I didnt have to push the Power mode and struggle to get to merging highway speed;today it flew up that same incline and it wasn't struggling.

Thought for sure truck was just starting to show it's age, as I'm pretty good about tune-ups, but I guess this time I hit it later then I should have.

No CEL this morning, idle is back to normal, and take-off/highway power has returned.

Didn't have a problem holding highway speed last night like it has for the last 2 mnths.

Promise to not wait that long to do spark plugs again - but I was told they were good for at least 80-100k miles. Got 85k out of them, but it won't happen again .

The O2 that had to be replaced was the front passanger side; when summer gets here, I'll replace the drivers side front if it holds on til then.

Glad to hear your truck got a second wind. I've heard some people say they change the spark plugs every other oil change.

Re: Wow! Didn't know spark plugs

I do my Jetta plugs every 10K. Cheapo Bosch coppers or silvers. I don't know why I wait so long for the Rodeo. It does make a difference. What did you put in?

Re: Wow! Didn't know spark plugs

NKG Iridiums

Had crappy Bosch Platinums in there. But the funny thing is, is I think you get use to the slllloooowww loss in power, because that loss of power got REAL bad before I knew something was really wrong.

Had no idea, really, just how much power loss I'd be experiencing.

I would love to do them every 10-20k really, but they're just such a pain on this truck. But I won't go over 40k again, that much is for sure.

Re: Wow! Didn't know spark plugs

I think I just put the single electrode platinum Champion plugs in. Have to see how long they last.

You liked'em enough to keep them in there for 85Kmi!! Actually you are lucky you didn't pull the threads out with the old plugs! Good to hear she's running well.

G/luck

Yeah really, huh. You know looking back over the last 2yrs especially, we've been so occupied with the Dodge and the Toyota cause a lot of odds and ends were coming about with those two, we never really though too much into the Rodeo cause it hadn't given us any real issues.

I know I've been on this board constantly, but still, aside from the fun in the oil playing area, I hadn't given too much thought into anything going on with the Rodeo, it's been our one reliable one.

Let's just say it got the tune-up that I'd obviously been neglecting, my loss actually, cause I'd done forgotten just how much zip this engine DOES have - oh, and I'm KEEPING my 32" tires!
