06 Dic

My truck does not have the steering wheel controls for the DIC. If I replace my steering wheel with one that has the controls, will I have full DIC functionality? Is it already built in? Thanks.

Dont quote me on this, but I do believe its built in... I think it just requires a reprogram by the stealership. Somebody else confirm??

Re: 06 Dic

Everything is built in, but I don't think you need to reprogram anything....it's just a plug and play sort of thing.....I wanted to replace my steering wheel with the controls, but when I found out it was like $350 bucks, i said screw it.......how much you find yours for?

Re: 06 Dic

I haven't found it yet. Was wondering if I should start looking though. Amazing, only $125 option new with the truck!

Re: 06 Dic

Is the steering wheel replacement a difficult task, for example does the aibag deploy if you tamper with the steering wheel or how can this be done?

It is built it, but it must be activated by the dealer.

You will need both a steering wheel (relatively cheap on e-bay) and a new ABS coil harness ($175 new at gmpartsdirect.com) to get the steering wheel controls working.

See below for an alternative, building your own buttons. Still has to be activated by the dealer.

Re: 06 Dic

I'm not sure, but I would bet that this is one of those where you better know what you are doing or the airbags could deploy. But yea, from what the dealer told me, the computer stuff is there, you just need the wheel and as somebody else said the harness to plug it in. Not sure about the reprogram.
