Maybe I am clueless (wouldn't be a surprise), but I have searched on the net, and can't seem to find what I am looking for.

I just traded in my 89 Blazer for a 2000 Blazer, and it is great, but there is one thing I hate about it...the spare tire is INSIDE the cargo hold, taking up way too much space and sightlines. Blech. I want to mount it on the liftgate where it belongs, and towards that end, am looking for a swing arm carrier, which is what I had on my 89. But for the life of me, I can't find the part anywhere on the net. Maybe I don't know the name of the part, maybe I am just missing something obvious, I don't know. But any help would be most appreciated in this endeavor. My Blazer is a 2000 LS two door 2WD. Feel free to reply here on to my email account. Thanks.

I found that first gen's won't work on second gen's. Partly because the tire would sit too low, and if I remember corectly the tail lights won't allow it.

However Nissan Pathfinders sure look like the would easily fit second gen's.
I can't promise this though (and I didn't think of looking at the year of Nissan) since I didn't actually try.

You'll probably want to brace the cab corner.
I came up with a -$10.00 mod, and posted it, but since I've just updated my web site the pictures are probably gone.
I'll take some more pic's if I think of it tomorrow, and post them here.

What I'm thinking of doing is removing my spare tire, and getting 2 army style gas can's mounted on the tire mount. (with a steel bumper wrapped around)
And getting a custom (swing down to the side) tire mount for my reciever trailer hitch made up.

This is for a few reasons
I've got a weak back now, and it'll make it easier for me to access the tire when needed. I won't have to suport all the weight of the tire, just use leaverage to lift it.
Even with the cab corner braced a spare tire is still a lot of weight to carry back there.
And I like to carry extra gas while off roading, but I won't carry it in the cab.

A couple things I should note here....my Blazer is not a 4X4, and while I don't mind putting it through its paces, I probably will not be taking it offroading any time (if ever) soon, other than perhaps the beach in Mexico. Also, I am pretty sure that the second gen Blazer can support a swingarm tire carrier, as just the other day I saw a second gen (not sure what year, but looked a lot like my 2000) roll down the main drag here with (you guessed it) a swingarm tire carrier. Also, I will take your word about bracing the corner....I actually am pretty clueless mechanically, and would have my mechanic do the work, because (A) as said, I am clueless, and (B) I want it done right. I do a lot of things right. Working on my truck is NOT one of them! So I figure if it needs bracing to hold the extra weight, he will tell me and consult with me on how it is going to do it. And if he doesn't mention it, I will ask. (And thanks for pointing that out!) Finally, I have checked out the suggested site (autoanything.com) already, and came up emptyhanded, sad to say.

I saw one of these on a Jeep today

Since it's actually mounted on the bumper you won't have to cut any holes in the body like you have to with the OEM style. (both under and over the passanger side tail lights to fasten them from behind)
Plus then you don't have the weak lower cab corner giving you problems in the future.
And as a bonus there's a trailer hitch built right in.

Thanks for finding that, though I do see a couple of potential problems.

1. It seems to be designed specifically for Jeeps. I have no idea if it would work on my Blazer. (I am mechanically inept, so I would have to run that by my mechanic.)

2. I already have a trailer package on my truck. Seems extraneous to me to have two.

Despite my above reservations, I do like what I saw on the website. Innovative design. Just wondering how high that would be on my truck, as far as rear visibility goes.

The 1 that I saw rode up pretty high on the jeep.

Since you'd have to have it modified just to fit your Blazer anyways it would probably cost less to just have 1 made up.

Your mechanic should know the answer to that. If he can't make it up he should know who can
