Stock Cd Player..
ok, i was interested in putting a stock cd player from a 96 blazer into my blazer.. i found one on ebay, and it seems to be in good condition.. works and all, but i was wondering, will i have to get it unlocked? and if i do have to get it unlocked, what would i have to do.?
the person selling this item says they are not sure if its locked or not..
thanks.!

Re: Stock Cd Player..
If the lock code is set, you'd need to take it to a dealer and have it unlocked. Depending on the dealers mood, sometimes they'll do it for free, otherwise they might charge a few bucks to do it.

Re: Stock Cd Player..
Install it and take the vehicle in if it needs to be unlocked. I had to have mine unlocked once and it needs to sit with the key on for about an hour, they put in on a charger. You shouldn't need to take anything else, but should have vehicle registration just to be sure.

Re: Stock Cd Player..
If the lock feature was turned on when the radio was taken out, it will have to be reset if you don't know the code. If the lock was turned off, you should be good to go.

Re: Stock Cd Player..
Do some thread searching. I had almost the same problem I couldn't remeber my code. There is a thread in here that gives you step by step how to unlock the stereo. It is what the dealer would do. It is very easy worked for me.
