Don't ever buy this kit...it's a bloody nightmare to build.
Nothing fits, parts and finshing of kit takes forever to clean up.

My 2 Volvo 850's. The red one was driven by Peter Brook and uses after market decals on the Tamiya BTCC model pictured here with it.

Oh! There is something about looking at other peoples kits, it so gets me in the mood!
You really are good, and I can see we like the same sort of detail as I take about the same time to complete them too! Those I complete anyway!
Like I said, it is a shame this run of paint cracking has ruined so many of my current projects, and I have only just sorted the reason!

Love the Alfa. I have that kit, and the Volvo as you know!
My cousin did the Accords! Nightmare as you said!

They are great, adn thanks for getting me in the mood! I know what I will be doing on my day off tomorrow!

I will get my camera out now and take a few 'in progress shots'!

I sourced it down to the primer, as it even happened before the lacquer went on one model!

Still, these things are here to try us!!!

So what are you working on at the moment?
When do you tend to do most of your modelling?
I suppose you don't have weather problems like we do! I try to get most of my spraying done in the summer as we get so much rain over winter!

I am just so impressed with what you have posted so far!!

Any chance of a pic of them all together? Do you keep them all in a cabinet or what?

I've taken over her wall unit :D :D ..i'll get some pics up of it later.
I've run out of room in it so i have kinda slowed down a bit untill i get something new.

I'm think i will start on the CLK and a '70 Dodge Challenger 2'n1 soon by revell.
Nothing started just yet.... i decided to finsh all the ones i had not finshed(about 5)...so i'm thinking about what to do next.
I would like to get the Skyline or Evo by Tamiya...but most of my moneys going into my car at the moment

Most of it i do at night when i'm alone and wont be bothered by wife or kids.

Superb!
I am single, so shouldn't moan about other distractions, other than being tired after owrk and my poor eyesight!

I am about to get a multi shelved cabinet with a back light as too many of my kits sit on the shelves getting dusty, and that kills models!

But I have a day off tomorrow, only about 4 hours work to do in the evening, so I will definately get a kit out!
I could finish my Corolla, which needs the roll cage painting and some detailing, or carry on with the R390!!! Hmmmmmmmmm, decisions, decisions!:D

Well...better go and get some ZZZZZZZZZ, I'll post up a few more of the ones i have done.

I tried Monograms Hot Rods, but never got into them enough, and now I only really like Tamiyas kits!
I bought a Fujumi Nismo R33 Skyline, but it just isn't the same as Tamiyas R33!
They just fall into place, Tamiya kits, and I can get get so many add ons for them!

Anyway, I am getting an early night, so I can get up early and get started!

Take cars guys, and Primera Man, keep up that Damn good work!

You guys are on fire!!! Primera man, those are each a work of art!

Also, Guiddy, bravo on even undertaking anything in 1/12 scale. Those kits are huge!!! Take 70 years if you need to, that sucker's going to be beautiful.

I'm interested to see, with me, as an American, and you guys from New Zealand and England, (and whoever else drops by...) what is and isn't available and what is popular in the local modelling community. Americans mostly (pardon my stereotype) like old hot rods and muscle cars, but there are still plenty that will build any kit if it's an interesting subject.

I'm not going to be surprised when we start getting other AFers into (or back into) scale modelling. :D

MTBN, that's what I was about to say.

Primera man, have you ever consider getting on the Radio Control cars???? It's a lot of fun (after you learn to drive) and you can do replicas of cars. Right now, HPI does a lot of bodies (www.hpiracing.com) and those cars are awesome.
I own an HPI 1/10th and a FG Modelsport 1/5th.
I will post a pic of the FG soon. Working on having the only Primera 1/5 (at least on my country).

1/5?!?!? Holy crap! That's almost bigger than a Geo Metro!

Now, the hobby stores in my neck of the woods also have a ton of R/C stuff, so I see then around a lot. But, my question is, has anyone ever tried to disguise the functional internals of an R/C car as the realistic internals of the 1/1 car?

The thing that keeps me out of R/C building is the cost. :( I'd love to build a hopped-up machine, but they run into the hundreds.

RCer
08-06-2001, 10:24 PM
What do you mean by disguise? Those suspensions are for real.
They have almost the same desing of a real one, and every change you do to them affects the way the car behave on the track. We are talking real race cars, only at 1/5th of the size.

There is a lot of activities on socal for this cars. If you are interested I can "conect" you with the clubes.

Are you still talking about an R/C car, or an outright go-kart?

By "disguise" I mean make/build/fake-some-other-way the interior of the car. As opposed to making the windows opaque.

RCer
08-06-2001, 10:48 PM
1/5th scale radio controlled cars.

No details of the interior of the cars. Why? that is added weight, not good for racing. Besides, It will afect the temp of the engine.

Althought, there is a kit from HPI where you can see the 2 helmets (is for rally cars) but it is for electric.

Erh, and you said the cost goes to hundreds, well, and FG 1/5 competition 2001 will go to 2k us dollars. je je. And you can get a lot of hop up for that car.

OK, Primera man, just stop now as I am getting jealous!!:D

Most of those kits I own (the Tamiya ones) but haven't had time to complete or even start!
I don't mind not starting them as that keeps them valuable, but I MUST finish some more!!!

Can you post a pic of the Kure GTR as it is one I have in primer, ready for paint.

Superb!!!

Did you go for a soild black?

The instructions hint at a sort of metallic bronze/black, but I am sure I primered the GTR in 'crack' primer, so I sould stick with a solid as I know that won't craze!

I may put a coat of Nissan KURO black on now!

Keeps trying to rain here though!!!

I can tell you they are Tamiya, but they are not in the latest catalogue, so you may need to find a shop with some older stock!:(

Nah, the Jugg is just a toy, so I am not into all the super expensive mods you can get for them. It handles pretty crap too, but that makes it fun!
